Rehearsal Dinner: Grand Lux Cafe
We held the rehearsal dinner at the Grand Lux Cafe in the Palazzo. Groom and I eat bunch at the Grand Lux in the Venetian quite a bit, but chose the location at the Palazzo because it offered a private room. With a three hour open bar, our group got a little loud so the private room was nice.
We had about 30 people attend the rehearsal dinner and the room fit us comfortably. The room was arranged with three long tables with a bar in the back. It also had a back room that was used to serve the appetizers.
We selected a menu that included three appetizers, a salad, choice of entree, and dessert with a three hour open bar. The first hour was similar to a cocktail hour where everyone moved around the room with drinks, and appetizers were served buffet style from the room in the back. In the remaining two hours, we had a sit-down dinner that included a caesar salad, a choice of three entrees and cheesecake for dessert. I heard the pork chop was fantastic. I ordered the chicken, but didn't eat much at all. I had been drinking all day and was feeling pretty good at dinner which left me with little appetite. I did eat the cheesecake which was amazing.
I will mention one caveat. We had a three hour open bar. In retrospect, that might have been a bit much the day before the wedding. Especially since many of the guests had been drinking all day (including me). What happens after drinking all day and then getting your money's worth on a three hour open bar? You turn your guests loose on the strip to do silly things...like buy and/or wear an 8 button orange suit.
This particular suit also came with a reversible vest. I found this out when we hit an unlucky streak while gambling around 3:30 am and he inverted his vest to change his luck. Why was I gambling at 3:30 am on the night before my wedding? Good question. A bit of moderation would probably have been best. No one wants to be gambling (and losing) at 3:30 on the night before their wedding...or wear an 8 button orange suit.
