The Bar: Bellagio
The bar service was fantastic. We upgraded several areas: we upgraded the bar itself, we upgraded to top-shelf alcohol, and we extended bar service to six hours. It was worth it.
Our bartender was fantastic. There was a group of about 20 people that were dancing and drinking heavily. The bartender knew all of our drinks and would begin making them as soon as we started walking over. One guest was being teased about how quickly she was emptying glasses of wine and jokingly responded that it was a small glass. For her next glass, the bartender found a huge, fishbowl-like glass and served her wine in that. There was another guest who asked for one brand of beer that wasn't at the bar. The bartender sent someone in to the casino to find some. He served her the beer and told her that he had more brought back to keep under the bar for her.
We didn't request a "featured drink" so the bartender chose one for us. It was a scotch-based drink served in a martini glass. It tasted like a fruity drink, but was pretty potent. Unfortunately, it was probably what led to the demise of the Lady in Red. Otherwise, it was a big hit and I'm glad we had it although we didn't specifically request it.
I am surprised that many wedding venues don't serve shots. That was not the case at The Bellagio. We had many, many shots served all night long. They made round after round and the waiters circulated the rounds on trays. We still don't know who ordered all of them.
There was one shot that seemed to the be go-to or featured shot although no one knew exactly what was in it. It was like a kamikaze, only better. The bartender would also mix dedicated shots that were named after specific guests. The "Bill shot" was a big hit.
